The Lean Construction Institute-Canada (LCI-C), a Special Committee of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), was established to help transform the building industry in Canada by changing the way projects are planned, designed and managed. Lean Construction introduces new approaches to planning and control, the use of cross functional teams, and promotes the use of modeling in project definition, design, and production workflows in project construction. The principles behind Lean are improving productivity and profitability in industries around the world, from construction to manufacturing, and LCI-C looks forward to providing the tools and techniques to introduce Lean in Canada
Lean Construction Forum
To help introduce Lean Construction to all stakeholders in the Canadian building industry, LCI-C is holding a series of Forums across the country. These Forums will introduce the LCI-C, explain Lean principles, and showcase the major impact Lean is already having internationally, and on Canadian projects.
A highlight from the LCI-C Forum is an overview of the Lean Construction Education Program developed by the Associated General Contractors Association of America and the Lean Construction Institute. There will be a hands-on Workflow Simulation to illustrate the Lean concepts of Work in Progress (WIP), Throughput, and Cycle Time. This exercise will further demonstrate the significant productivity gains that are inherent in Lean.
Who should attend?
Lean has proven its ability to increase profitability and productivity on construction projects, and can provide significant enhancements for all stakeholders. The LCI-C Forum is open to all those involved in construction projects who are interested in improving their own project outcomes. Owners, architects, consulting engineers, general contractors, roadbuilders, trade contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and any other interested parties are encouraged to attend.
